Frequently Asked Questions
When Is the Best Time to Visit Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda?
These destinations can be visited throughout the year. However, the dry seasons—June to September and December to February—are generally ideal for wildlife viewing and gorilla trekking. Each season offers unique experiences, and our team can help you choose the best time based on your interests.
Is Gorilla Trekking Difficult, and What Is the Minimum Age?
Gorilla trekking involves walking through mountainous terrain and can range from easy to moderately challenging. The minimum age for gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda is 15 years. Our guides will help prepare you and ensure you have an unforgettable experience.
Can You Customize a Safari to Match My Interests and Budget?
Absolutely. Every traveler is different. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, family holiday, photography expedition, birding safari, or a once-in-a-lifetime East African adventure, we can tailor your journey to suit your preferences, travel dates, pace, and budget.
How Far in Advance Should I Book My Safari?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially if your itinerary includes gorilla trekking. Gorilla permits are limited and can sell out months in advance during peak travel seasons (June–September and December–February). Early booking also gives you access to the best accommodations and allows us to carefully personalize your journey. Last-minute bookings are possible, subject to permit and lodge availability.
Is Uganda Safe for Tourists?
Uganda is one of East Africa’s most welcoming and rewarding destinations, attracting visitors from around the world for its extraordinary wildlife, vibrant cultures, and breathtaking landscapes. Like many countries, Uganda occasionally experiences political events, health concerns, or regional developments that attract international attention. However, major tourism destinations and national parks have remained accessible and continue to welcome visitors.
At Bluebird Safaris, the safety and well-being of our guests are our highest priorities. We closely monitor official updates from government authorities, tourism bodies, and international organizations to ensure that our journeys operate responsibly and safely.
Our experienced team works with trusted partners, carefully selected accommodations, and professional guides to provide a comfortable and secure travel experience. Should circumstances require adjustments, we proactively communicate with our guests and tailor itineraries accordingly.
Millions of travelers continue to enjoy Uganda’s incredible wildlife, landscapes, and cultural experiences each year. With thoughtful planning and local expertise, visitors can explore Uganda with confidence and peace of mind.
Are Safaris Suitable for Older Travelers or Guests with Limited Mobility?
Absolutely. Many of our guests are retirees, couples, and multigenerational families who prefer a comfortable pace and personalized experiences. While some activities, such as gorilla trekking, can be physically demanding, most safari experiences—including game drives, boat cruises, cultural visits, and scenic excursions—can be enjoyed by travelers of varying ages and fitness levels.
At Bluebird Safaris, we thoughtfully design each journey around our guests’ interests, pace, and comfort. We can recommend suitable accommodations, adjust driving times, include rest days, and tailor activities to accommodate different mobility levels.
If you have specific health concerns or mobility requirements, please let us know when planning your trip. Our team will work closely with you to create a safari experience that is comfortable, enjoyable, and unforgettable.
Age should never be a barrier to experiencing the beauty and wonder of East Africa.
